In case you’re wondering:
1. No, the photo at the end of the previous post (also below) is NOT SpaceBlog taking off. It’s New Horizons atop an Atlas 5 rocket launching from the Kennedy Space Center on January 19, 2006. (photo courtesy of NASA)
2. Yes, by popular demand, SpaceBlog will also be known as SPLOG.
3. Yes, your comments on yesterdays SPLOG post are welcome. This is the place and time to share what you know/think/wonder about Pluto, the Solar System, New Horizons and NASA space missions – in short any thoughts (small, big, or middling) inspired by SpaceBlog. I’m particularly looking forward to the comments of students from McBee Elementary School in Austin, Texas where I’ll be visiting this week. I’ve been there before and WOW – are those kids curious! And smart!
4. Yes, questions about the other incredibly interesting stuff in space are welcome, too. In fact, I will pick one of your questions every two weeks to begin a new SPLOG post.
Did you hear the announcement today that they have found a rocky planet in another galaxy? I think it is the first outside our own solar system!
Hi Erin!
I think you’ve been hearing about NASA’s Kepler Mission searching for Earth-like planets in our galaxy. That is such an exciting topic, I think I’ll write about in my next splog post. Stay tuned…
